Nearly 100 civilians have been killed in a series of attacks across Sudan between April 4 and April 7, in one of the deadliest recent escalations in the country’s ongoing conflict.

At least 50 people were killed on April 4 when strikes hit a market and a hospital in Al-Muglad, according to UN human rights officials. Days later, further attacks on crowded marketplaces in Abu Zabad and Wad Banda on April 7 left at least 40 more civilians dead.

The strikes targeted densely populated civilian areas, significantly increasing the humanitarian toll. Witnesses reported widespread destruction in market zones where large numbers of people had gathered.

The latest violence highlights the worsening security situation in Sudan, where civilians continue to bear the brunt of ongoing fighting. Human rights officials have expressed alarm over the rising number of attacks on non-military targets and warned of further deterioration if the conflict continues.
