At Least Eight Killed as Russian Strikes Hit Ukraine Following Zelenskyy Warning

At least eight people were killed after Russian missile strikes hit several regions of Ukraine, a day after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that a large-scale attack was likely.

The attacks struck Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and the western city of Lviv, where residential buildings were damaged and dozens of people were injured. Polish authorities activated fighter jets and air defence systems after a Russian missile reportedly entered Polish airspace before landing in an uninhabited area.

Russia said it targeted military facilities and logistics sites across Ukraine, including locations in Odesa. Meanwhile, Zelenskyy renewed his call for additional air defence systems, saying stronger international support is essential to protect civilians. The European Union also announced new financial assistance to help Ukraine strengthen its military capabilities.

Ukraine also carried out a drone attack inside Russia, setting fire to a warehouse in the city of Penza, where one person was injured.
